How to choose

The Ninja Woodfire and units like it are electric outdoor cookers with a small pellet box that burns real wood to add genuine smoke on top of electric heat. They exist to solve a permissions problem: if your building bans charcoal and gas, this is the closest you will get to barbecue flavour legally.

Be clear-eyed about what they are. The smoke is real but light, the capacity is small, and they will not sear like charcoal. Within their brief, for a flat, a balcony or a small patio, they are genuinely good and far better than a bare electric hotplate.
